For all of you who ate and enjoyed their Easter Eggs here is some reasearch that might lighten your conscience. According to an article in the Guardian those of you who indulge in a little bit (exactly 7.5 grams) of chocolate, especially the darker variety, every day are less likely to have a stroke or heart attack. Less likely by 39% to be exact! The research of the German Institute of Human Nutrition suggests that the modest consumption of chocolate had a significant effect on blood pressure. The researchers think that flavenols, substances in cocoa that boost the body's nitric oxide may contribute to a lower blood pressure and and increase in the blood flow around the brain.
But here is the word of warning, the researcher stress the MODEST intake of chocolate, as it contains lots of calories and saturated fats which are related to weight gain and high cholesterol-two risk factors for heart disease.
You just can't have it all-can you?!
